Januvia with metformin 100/1000

I just got this prescribed, but after reading the potentially serious side effects I am afraid to take it. Is it true that one might get pancreatitis even after taking it for only a few days or weeks?

I can’t speak to the likelihood of getting pancreatitis. They have to list any potential side effects, but I’m guessing it isn’t particularly commonplace. I did have a side effect when I took Januvia and stopped taking it after just a few days, per my doctor’s instructions. The negative effects subsided the day after I stopped taking it and did not return.

I had abdominal pain around an hour after every meal while taking Januvia. Enough that I had to talk to my doctor about it - and, as I said, he took me off the med. I’ve got a friend who is currently taking Januvia with reasonable results and no problems.
