After I got back from the fair, I’ve been trying to get to sleep. I did drop off but for less than 30 minutes. I came awake fast when I got a cramp in my left calf. I jumped up to stand on it when my right calf started to cramp. Now I’m afraid to lay down. Both my legs still ache from all the walking at the fair. On my left foot, the 3 smallest toes ache and feel hot. On my right foot only 2 toes are like that.
I went out to the kitchen looking for a banana for the potassium but there wasn’t any. I can’t think of anything else that has potassium. I looked online and found that calcium was good for cramps so I drank 2 glasses of milk. It also said that sometimes magnesium helped but I don’t have any. I tried emailing my father but he must be in bed already. it is 11:30 in Hawaii. I hope he emails me or calls in the morning. Maybe he can prescribe something to help me. I’m going to try to sleep sitting up in my chair. I don’t think my legs will cramp in that position.
Are you on omnipod, I can’t sleep either blah
Dehydration always causes leg cramps for me. I think something high in potassium might help after you are already dehydrated, but really the key is to not get dehydrated in the first place.
My doc always rails on me to not get dehydrated and I’m not perfect in that regard myself :-).
And I have a hard time sleeping in the middle of summer when the days are so long. I can get to bed at my normal time OK but I always wake up so early (4AM, 5AM).
Dehydration is a possibility, I was walking around all day. I only went pee one time just before we left the fair. I usually only go 2-3 times a day that could be a sign I’m not drinking enough fluids. When I lived at home my mother made green tea all the time and I drank a lot of it. Here I don’t get tea, only one or two bottles of water a day. The tap water here is not drinkable, tastes so bad it makes me gag. At home the tap water tastes great, better than the bottled waster here.
Domo - I use the OmniPod about half the time, the rest I’m on MDI with Novolog and Levemir.
