Just got approved for my Animas Ping :)

I got approved for my Animas on Friday, I am really excited.
I was going back and forth between the ping and the T-slim.
They will have the pump at my doctors office on January 2nd.
Has anyone else had there pump delivered to there doctors?
I just don't want to drive sixty miles round trip to pick it up.
Oh well I guess I am just whining.
I can't wait until the second.
Yay!!!!

It’s my belief that doctors require this in order to collect more money for the training. If they insist that training take place in their office, be sure that your insurance covers it. You could request that they give you your " numbers" if you’ve never pumped before. If you haven’t, the rep for your pump can meet you at your home or somewhere else to get you up and running.

I was told that I " needed" to come to my endo’s office to get started. I found out later that I could have had the rep train me and set me up in my home! Cost me $465!!! My insurance did not pay for the privilege of being trained at the doctor’s office.

I hope that is not the case. I think I will just pick it up and let her know that I can't afford the training through her and let the rep do it. I think the gentlemen who handled my purchase at Animas said that I could get the training from them, he said he wasn't sure if they would train me at the doctors office or not.

I was charged that $465 for the training from a rep who came to the doctor’s office…just a heads up.

When I got my Ping, it was shipped to my house and the CDE in my endo's office trained me on it. I got a lot of benefit from her doing the training because it was she and I that fine-tuned my basal and carb ratios during the first few weeks. I wasn't charged any more than a regular office visit amount with her for my training and my insurance paid just fine.

Thank you, I was really starting to stress over having a huge bill. My doctor is really great. She will have you come into her office instead of sitting on the table. She tries really hard to make things affordable.

Thank you again.

I'm sure if you check with your doctor's office, they'll let you know how they handle the set-up process on pumps. By the way, congratulations on getting the pump. I hope you love it as much as I do. It's made a huge difference in my blood sugar control and it's made my life much easier.

I didn’t mean to stress you out. We all have enough of that. I should have called my insurance first to ascertain whether or not pump training was covered.

It is o.k., all the information I can get is a good thing. :)

Thank you, I really can't wait.
