Just started on a iPro2 today

...and i would assume for my pump to recieve the reading i would have to insert the sensor ID but my nurse that set it up on me didn't give it to me. I'm only borrowing it from my doctors office so i don't have all of the stuff it came with. So my question is do i need to call in the morning for the ID? or does it start working when i use the tester that talks to my pump? i know she she put it on it had a green light and now there's no green light so did it turn itself off? i'm so confused on all of this and i can't call the office because their closed for the night.

I have never used iPro2, but my understanding is that only doctor's office will be able to download the readings and share the results with you. I don't think it's possible to have them show on your pump.

If you were to start using MM CGMS, you would get the Real-time Sof-sensors and transmitter, and it would be able to show the readings on your pump.

But the nurse told me that it would make my pump beep as a warning for highs and lows so how is my pump suppose to know that i'm high or low?

When I had the iPro, I had no data, which really pissed me off. At that point, I'd already decided I wanted the non-iPro version they give we peons but I thought it totally stupid that they'd sell a product that acquired data without sharing it with the person to whom it would be the most benefit.

The nurse may have been referring to 'if/when' you get the real-time system.

But if IPro2 is capable of transmitting to the pump, then the transmitter id would normally be on the bottom of the transmitter, which you can't see without unhooking it. If there is packaging or instructions that you brought home with you, see if there might be a transmitter id on that.

If you find an ID, then go on the pump main menu (723), and find Sensor on the main menu, then Link to Sensor, then Transmitter ID.

But then it would seem you would also have to do the settings for the alarms, so it knows at what BG value to alarm at. But since you don't enter 'calibrations', I don't think it is able to know the BG value, it only knows the relative signal from the sensor. So I really don't think IPro is designed to transmit to the pump.

My guess is that when they download your IPro sensor data, they will also combine it with fingerstick BGs that you do. The IPro software would take both BG and sensor results to then extrapolate what the BGs were over the full time period.

Hope you can contact your team tomorrow and get better answers !

The IPro is blinded, you don’t see the data real time. It can be helpful in that having the download can help to fine tune insulin or pump settings. It can document that you’re having more lows than are detected by fingersticks alone which can really help with getting insurance approval for a real time sensor in the first place. Some insurances require it now. I know mine did. I can understand the frustrations especially if you know or are expecting the real time but sometimes you have to jump through their hoops.

So, Acidrock did your Dr not give you a copy of your data?

I’ve had my own for a while now so it’s been a while but I always asked for a printout of the report for myself.
