Earlier today, I finally received word that my new Libre 3 Plus prescription was ready at the pharmacy - this was great news as the Libre 3 CGMs have apparently been out of stock for a while here in south Florida, and I only had a couple left.
I noticed the price was a bit more than the regular 3’s ($87.50 vs $75.00), but then I found out there were SIX in the bag rather than two! This is a huge price difference.
I have no idea if this is due to a price decrease on Abbott’s side, my insurance itself, or Publix’s pricing, but I’m thrilled either way.
Is this a new version of Libre 3? I live in Mississippi where they have been out of stock as well. Do they last 14 days like the original? If so that would be an awesome deal for CGMs.
It is! I was really surprised to get them today. Over on Reddit there have been so many people unable to fill their prescriptions, I assumed it would be weeks before they’d be back in stock. I even bought another Contour reader and lancet just in case.
From what I’ve read the Libre 3 Plus lasts for 15 days (hoping they changed the glue, because I definitely don’t get 14 days out of the current 3’s without using covers or stickers), and is able to connect to pumps like the Dexcom. I don’t use a pump so I don’t know which kinds.
The cost was the biggest surprise for me. Under $15.00 per sensor! Amazing!
Thanks for the idea, Ancient1der! I’ve been trying to get my Libre 3 refilled from Walgreens since last week, and will try switching to the Libre 3 Plus. How do you suggest having the doctor write the prescription in order to get a one year’s supply of 2 sensors per month, or a year’s supply of 6 sensors for 3 months?
