Medical Alert bracelets

I am a medic and i do look for the ids if they have one great i have more info to go on and if not okay i still treat but if you are passed out and i know you are diabetic then i will treat according to the d stick if that is the problem if not i will move on to other treatments. now i personally have a tattoo you can’t miss in an emergency so i am covered but i do look at neckalaces and bracelets to see.

Thank you for looking. I just assumed that every medic/EMT would do a quick check for one especially if the patient wasn’t cognizant. I’m also allergic to insect stings. One time I didn’t have an Epi-Pen with me. While I was in serious trouble by the time the EMT’s arrived I’m hoping my bracelet gave them a pretty good idea of what they were dealing with. I know the nurses and doctors take notice of them in the ER.

I love http://www.beadeddaisy.com/.

Here’s the one I have http://medicalidstore.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=283. Only $26. I don’t like chain link ones & have puny wrists, so need something small. It looks like a regular bangle. The squared shape is comfortable, though I wonder if it’s too small to get attention in an emergency.

Kelly, those are really nice! thanks for posting the link. The woman who started this company has 2 type1 diabetic children!

Gerri, yours is really cute too…ummmm wish it was in gold tone.

Or better, real gold for $26. I like stainless steel because the gold tone rubs off after a while.

Free is great! Thanks for link. I have a bracelet & am going to order one of these as a back-up. I’ve lost bracelets.

LOL yes. I need a new bracelet. I would get a tattoo on on my wrist, but I plan on getting cured

I’m too wimpy to get a tattoo. Went with a friend for hers & it looked painful. I see enough needles every day–lol.

Would the happiest day ever to see diabetics having their tattoos removed!

hey I used my lidocaine cream from my CGM insertions put it on 45 mins before the tat and didn’t feel a thing got to love scripts for stuff like that!

That’s what I’d need. I’m not for voluntary pain. Didn’t know the CGM insertions hurt that much. Guess I’ll pass on that also!

I have 2 tattoo’s, wasnt bad at all. But, I dont mind injections, blood drawn or finger sticks. lol

they don’t hurt that bad I just was scared at first to insert the big needle but now I don’t use the cream for it kind of found my knick for insertions i really love my cgm now.

I don’t mind injections, finger sticks or getting blood drawn either.

That’s good to know. I’m used to itty needles.

If you I’m in a situation that needs a medical professional to find medical information 24/7, Medic Alert is the one. It is a shame to hear the bashing by the uniformed. Medic Alert uses the money from their products to pay for product and support a “live” system that is available like no other 24/7 and have a respected relationship with medical professionals through education and performance as a highly reliable medical information source.

I have had my Medic Alert used on more than I would like it, in non-D situations, where the EMTs asked the right questions before making assumptions.

For what it’s worth, a few groups have offered discounts to members of TuDiabetes on medical alert bracelets. Here they are:
