Hi all you pumpers out there. I am in dire need of an insulin pump but have some problems. I am a T-2, age 61, disabled and only have Medicare for insurance. Medicare is very strict on pump approval. You have to have exact numbers on testing to qualify. Last year I tried for approval with the C-peptide and GAD tests and didn’t quite make it. I was 0.2 points away from the right number for my lab on C-peptide. I can pass all other tests and am getting ready to try again. I got some tips from one member which I appreciate but would love to hear from any of you who know of anything to help me. I am pretty sick and so scared of losing my feet and eyes. I have other health problems which is why my doctor wants me on a pump. I’ve been diabetic since 2003 and can’t maintain any type control longer than a couple or three weeks at a time then I’m back in BG Bizarro world. I was told that diauretics and metformin can have an effect on the C-peptide test and I take both. I also use two kinds of insulin with a third when I’m real high. I’ve lived with 22 years of chronic pain which gets worse with age and effects health, sleep, and other aspects and the docs think that is a big part of my crazy BG’s so I’d appreciate any tips on how I can acquire this pump. Also if anyone knows of any services that might help. Thanks to all you guys and God bless…Karla Sherer
