Medicare and meters

What a colossal mess. I have cancelled meters from two companies, but they came anyway. Of course I am returning them, but I wonder if my supplemental insurance has paid for these. And I wonder how many other thousands of meters are being paid for by either Medicare of our supplemental insurance. I've always used Accu check, but they were too late. Walgreen's charges a fortune for accu check strips. They are less expensive at Walmart, but I don't know whether Walmart is on the list for Medicare. What a mess. Did I say that?

At my local ADA meetings, they told me they need people to call their legislature and complain. I know that it doesn't help for right now but perhaps in the future they will do something.

Ask your doctor and see if they can give you test strips from the vendors..

Thank you. I finally did get a prescription from my doctor and got the Accu check strips from CVS. Unfortunately his office didn't know the pharmacy needed a prescription for the control solution so I'll have to call him for that. In the meantime, someone from Publix Pharmacy called and said FreeStyle had sent strips to them!! After someone had told me Medicare would not pay for them if I bought them at Publix. Then the meter came and I had to return it.

To make matters worse, or more expensive, Accu Check now sells lancing devices that force you to use a new needle every time you test. Too bad if you end up using two needles for one test. We're in the money.
