Medicare's Refusal to Cover CGM

One of our members, Suebcool, has written a blog about Medicare's refusal to cover continuous glucose monitors.

Her husband has not had use of his Dexcom since going on Medicare. They have had a telephone hearing with an administrative law judge, and are still awaiting his decision. Meanwhile, there is a new bill before Congress, H.R. 3710: Medicare CGM Coverage Act – to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for coverage of continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMS) as durable medical equipment under Medicare, and for other purposes.

Please contact your Congressperson and ask him/her to support this bill. We need to stop our government from discriminating against us when we reach age 65.

thanks for the post

Thank you so much for posting this. We all know that one day we’ll all be of Medicare age and it’s so important to ensure that anyone who needs a CGM will not have to go through Administrative Law Judge hearings or any other hoops to get one. Write your Congressperson asking them to support the bill.

Medicaid is the same way. Its so sad that if you dont have Good Insurance you cant get good care.
