Alright, I felt like sharing because I feel like I just got a Christmas miracle.
I started on a Medtronic pump in October. Since this was my first pump, they sent the quick set infusion sets. I’ve had nothing but problems with them from day one. Whether I inserted manually, or used the inserter, I’d end up with kinked cannula’s or just all around terrible absorption. I kept calling, and getting them replaced, but same deal.
The last time I called, after reading up here and elsewhere, I asked to try the sure t infusion set instead. So THIS is what pumping is supposed to be like! Amazing absorption, perfectly comfortable, and I’ve been getting great numbers all around.
Needless to say, on my upcoming order, I ordered the sure t’s. I’ve been stalking Medtronic’s site, waiting for my order to be processed and shipped. I only have one sure t site left from my samples. I called United Healthcare, wondering if they could help expedite my order. Not surprisingly, they weren’t helpful at all. On the suggestion of someone in a Facebook group, I called Medtronic and talked to someone in the ordering dept. I almost cried when she told me my order couldn’t be shipped until Jan 6th!
She transferred me over to the helpline to see if there was anything they could do. I wish I remembered the name of the woman I talked to, because I wish I could show her some online love right now. We talked through all the issues I’ve been having, and after seeing how many times I’ve called for replacements (six times since the end of October!), and after hearing that I’m happy and doing well with the sure t sites, she said that, even though my two remaining boxes of quick sets have the seals opened, and that it’s been past the thirty days, she’s going to do an exchange!
In three days, I’m going to have two boxes of sure t’s to tide me over until my order ships next year. I just have to send back the two boxes of quick sets I have (thank god, because I kind of sneer every time I see them in my D supply crate)!
This was just so much stress off my chest, you have no idea. I was seriously considering just reusing the sure t that I have in now by moving the needle every few days until it got dull or straight up didn’t work. I cannot say enough times how amazing the Medtronic people have been. Thanks for listening!
