Hey everybody - The accu-chec combo pump is now available in South-Africa (the medtronic was used by most people). My son is using the medtronic minimed 722. How does the combo compares to the minimed. A friend of mine wants to get a pump for her child (4yo) but cannot decide which one to get. (also how does the price differs) What is you opinion?
Hello Riette
I am a South African. Going to CDE tomorrow to get educated on pumps as I want to get one. Please share any inf with me.

Andrie
I cannot compare pumps but I have the accu chek combo and it is fantastic. The meter is used to control the pump so there is no need to touch the pump at all. It can be in your pocket and the meter uses Bluetooth to control it. You check your blood sugar and input the carbs for your meal and the meter calculates how much insulin is needed. You press a button and insulin is delivered. It’s great. If you check and you’re low the meter will alarm ten minutes later so you can recheck. Lots if other great things about it too. I would recommend it
Hi,
I started on the Accu chek combo yesterday - so far no hassles! it is my first pump so I cannot compare it to the Medtronic pumps. I have found Roche very helpful and i love the bluetooth meter that can control the pump it makes things very easy and discreet. I could imagine that the bluetooth would be advantageous for parents with young children on the pump.
