Downside of the Ping: I bolused this morning but must have forgotten to dial up the recommended dose. I just looked at my last bolus to see if I should test for two hours after eating, and was confused when I saw my insulin on board was 0.00u. Then I saw my last bolus was also 0.00u. But clearly I did program in the bolus since it was in the history, I just forgot to dial up the dose. I was kind of multitasking as I bolused because I was entering the information into Diabetes Pilot at the same time.
So, now almost two hours after breakfast I have a lovely blood sugar of 17.7 (319 mg/dl). Just what I need when I am finally feeling like I'm getting somewhat consistently good blood sugars.
I also love how I don't feel high at ALL so have no idea that I've missed a bolus until I check.
At least it's a good thing I'm only eating 20-25 grams for breakfast now instead of over 50 grams—otherwise my blood sugar would be a LOT higher.
Proud of you for working on better control. Two sparklingly bright highlights -- 1) actually CHECKING to see where you were instead of ignoring it -- my reason for having a CGM is that it makes it easier to check, even though I have to do a fingerstick if it's off, and 2) limiting carbs for breakfast. A lot of people find that breakfast is the hardest meal to control, and you're doing something positive. Diabetes is NEVER going to be easy, but you're taking positive actions, and you deserve a pat on the back! :-)
Thanks Natalie. I think I have actually made a lot of good changes this year even though I feel like my numbers still bounce around too much. Heck, at this time last year my A1c was 8.2% and now it's 7.3%. So that alone is much better, and even if it stays there all the changes I've made and stuck to are still positive ones.
