Well I know or I believe it is genetic. And You all are so right in that It is possible to prevent it, if you know you are predisposed to develop it. Well maybe not prevent but at least control it where it does not cause you to be dependent on meds or insulin.
So let me toss this one out. I do not have diabetes or prediabetes. But what I do have is the opposite. I have extreme episodes occasionally where I totally drop off the scale. The shakes, dizziness, all of it. Protein immediately needs to be eaten. Peanut Butter and cheese are my favorite way to come back up quick. My father was the same way.
I do not take medication for it. I eat small high protein meals all day. I can tell when my weight is up that I am not eating right. Gosh, I so love chocolate. I am also lactose intolerant and with milk a main ingredient I always have troubles.
Back to genetics. I am always so sorry to hear of young children being diagnosed as T1. That is a hard thing for babies to learn. So far my daughter's baby is good. I was very worried about that, being as how she had to take Metformin and Byetta for over a year before her doctors would let her get pregnant. Thankfully, she had no problems through her pregnancy. Except right at the end when toxemia tried to rear its ugly head.
I am so glad to see others weighing in on this thought about genetics. You know your body build will generally tell on you. My shape in an inverted hour glass. lol In other words I would make an hour glass look good. lol. Nothing skinny about me. I started with Osolean last night. Just to help thin the thick middle and with the fat. I wonder how my middle keeps getting thicker. I think what I say about turning 50 everything changed, Downhill that is.
Well gotta go . Osolean meeting tonite, I want to attend to get into the 8 week challenge. I will try my very best to lose an inch or two here and there.
Thanks for all of the comments on my other post.
