I ordered test strips this morning at CVS. When I picked them up, I realized that the strips were in a yellow box. I asked the pharmacist if these were the new test strips and he told me that CVS was not aware of any recall. I called Abbott and found out that the strips given to me were subject to the recall. The representative also told me that neither CVS or Walgreen’s were able to access the new strips at this point. She went through the list and it was comprised of mail houses like Edgepark. It is amazing to me that a pharmacy like CVS can still be selling product subject to recall.
I'm still using them I think??? But haven't had a problem if u call they will send u some free strips 300-400 I think the way I see it is free is free
any strips prior to Aug 2015 were apparently compromised. Call Abbot and they will send 400 strips free of charge. I personally did not have an issue with the strips I was using compared to the strips Abbott is mailing out to ppl
That is not true as I just got a three month's supply from Walgreens of strips that are dated 8/15. When I ordered them a week ago Walgreens did not know of the recall but I told them I would not accept the older strips. They got on the phone with Abbott and it took a few days but they did send my pharmacy the right strips. I was adamant when I went to pick up my strips and that they were the wrong date and that Walgreens had to get the right strips for me. It was a matter of my health and the health of other patients who use these strips. I'm tired of being the person who has the most to lose in this ridiculous screw up. As I've said before who knows what using the wrong strips for a few years has done to me. My AlC's in the past have not been where I wanted them to be. Blamed myself but perhaps the problem with the strips has added to it.
Why not accept the older strips? You can get them replaced for free, usually getting more than you started with. Seems you're making things harder than they need to be...
joy I do not understand what is not true? I do not think the strips would be to blame for years..... many people have used these strips that have had good control of their sugars. As for Abbott they will send you 400 test strips for free. and the so called good strips are from Aug 2015. so not sure what part you mean by not true
I did receive the 400 strips. I like everyone else can send my additional strips in for replacement but the instructions say that it could take a month to receive them. Since my daughter uses 300 per month, I wanted to have some additional strips in hand in case of some type of delay in replacement. Not sure how that is making things harder
I believe Joy is referencing the comment made to me by the Abbott rep yesterday that I would not be able to get newly manufactured strips from CVS or Walgreens. Through her perseverance (nice job) she was able to get a 3 month supply through Walgreens which is contrary to what the rep told me.
ahh, thanks Larry for clarifying. When I called Abbott I got them 2 days later.
Larry....you are right I was referencing the comment made to you by Abbott. I just wanted everyone to know that you have to really be a little forceful and they will come through for you. Thanks for explaining I didn't want to seem obnoxious but I do wonder...if the strips were not working properly hasn't that possibly affected our blood sugar????Just a thought???
Anyone who owns a Bassett hound can’t be obnoxious
