Hey Ohio! I will invite you to be my friend. That will enable me to send you private messages. Click “My Page” at the top of this page and then look at “Inbox” on the upper right part of that page.
Congratulations!!! Thanks for sharing the good news Richard. I know the diligence it takes and, yes perhaps good genes do count for something, but diligence also counts just as much. I’m celebrating 47 years without serious complications, and have been told it must be good genes. I will also take some credit for the good outcome, as I hope you will too.
Congratulations Richard on Healthy Living !!!
Oh yes Pam, I do agree that it takes more than good genes to enable us to have long, healthy lives with diabetes. I have used tight control. I do know that some type 1 diabetics have taken good care of themselves, and still had complications. That is why I feel good genes play an important role.
Pam, I agree with Richard. I’ve been doing this since 1958 since the age of 3. I too have no complications. Richard has a few years on me though. Go Richard!!!
congratulations, that is something to be extremley proud of!! this gives me hope
Thanks Ray, Darcey, mumof2 and bikette. I don’t feel like I have done anything special. I just live my life day to day like you folks. Diabetes came along for the ride, sorta piggy back style, but I just kept putting one foot in front of the other, and did not let it bother me. I am now living my retirement years and enjoying it all very much! I hope all the TuD diabetics will take good care of themselves and live long, healthy lives.

Like that energizer bunny, you just keep on going. Congratulations! 65 years, wow! I look forward to seeing you here on your 100th anniversary
Thanks Jan, I may be the energizer bunny for the time being, but I do keep a supply of energizer batteries on hand, just in case. LOL!
Wow and I used to think it was tough when I did the urine testing and had to carry a huge suitcase type bag for my urine kit and strips. I cannot even imagine it back in 1945, sounds like your doing great though congratulations Richard!
You make me PROUD young man!!! Mark
Thanks for that! I have physical problems, but they are not D related. Nothing serious.
WOW!!! I am young again, Thanks! Lol
870allamerican,
Got a chance to see your photos. They were wonderful . I have not seen the Clinitest, and the syringes, both plastic disposable and glass, and the case for insulin , and the Joslin book since, well when I used all of them. It is good to remember how far we have come. It is funny how much that can put it all in perspective. I am applying for my 50 year medal this week. I saw yours and it was great to see.
