Need a little help

In one of the discussions. I mentioned I’d been put on Lisinopril. Somebody(s) posted optional drugs for kidney damage. I’ve been searching for it and can’t seem to find it.

I’d sure appreciate it if the optional drugs to prevent kidney damage from D could be posted to this discussion.

Thanks in advance.

I am on Lisinopril 20 mg. Are you experiencing problems with it? At first I would go into deep sleep and get some real vivid dreams but over time I seem to have adjusted to it. I would get dizzy but now I seem to tolerate better. I take it before I go to bed so that I dont have to deal with it during the day

Hey, put lisinopril in the search box at the top right corner of this page. Here is a link to the search results.

One of the results says that is the generic name for another drug, you might want to search for that one, aslo, assuming that is true. Good luck with your search.

I think this is it, Thomas… https://forum.tudiabetes.org/topics/does-anybody-have-experience

Cozaar is an option. Like you, I was placed on Lisinopril, but ended up being allergic to it. My brother in law (MD) told me to take Cozaar.

I to am experiencing this along with the cough. But, my real concern is the med itself. My dad and I have the same cardiologist. He Rx’d it for my dad. BTW dad is 92. Anyhow, he ended up needing a renalogist. The two Dr.'s were conflicted about this med. The cardio wanted him on it. The renal guy wanted him off. He said it was one of the worst medications for damaging the kidneys. MY PCP wrote the script. I know a PCP isn’t very knowledgeable about kidney problems They seem to go by a one size fits all treatment plan. I’m also taking Atenolol for my heart. The lisinopril seems to be a redundant medication. My B/P’s are getting too low. I too take it at bedtime. Thank you for posting.

You get a gold medal. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I’m blushing here. I’ve been wishing there was a search option on this site. Thanks so much for helping me.

You get a gold medal too kiddo. Thanks a bunch.

Thank you Marie. I want to find options and research them. I like to be well armed when dealing with Dr.'s.

I was on Lisinopril until they changed me to cozaar because they thought I may be having a reaction to the Lisinopril. I have had no problems with cozaar. I think another name for cozaar is Losartan.

Thanks pitscrewdad. Losartan doesn’t sound as safe/non destructive as the Cozaar.
