Need low cost test strips

Hi folks. I'm a 50 year type one survivor and I have had an Animas pump for 4 years now.
I was getting my Accu-Chek Compact Plus strips by mail from Liberty Medical at little or no cost.
Now due to the Medicare changes, I can't use Liberty any more. I'm very brittle so I check 6-7 times a day if I have access to strips.
I'm in the part B deductible now and my new pharmacy can only bill 3 months at a time so they want me to use a little Bayer Contour and cough up $240 at one time. Not possible.

Any advice on more cooperative pharm or strips I can afford out of pocket for awhile? I'm using the little True2Go meter but it's a buck a test.

Thanks for any and all help, and redirect me if I'm in the wrong forum.

Larry

If I need anythingdiabetic at a discount price, I go here:

Best wishes.

I've never used it, but I have heard that Wal-Mart has a cheap meter and strips. Judging from the prices of other Wal-Mart products, it may be true.

The wal-mart Relion brand ARE very affordable meters and test strips. A box of 50 test strip cost about HALF of what the name brand ones do. I had their version of the One Touch Ultra mini for a brief time and it was very accurate I found. Checked out right along with my One Touch.

Their meters run around 8 to 10 dollars
and strips no more than 25 dollars for a box of 50.

check adw - american diabetes wharehouse. test strips are $25 to 30 dollars per barrel of 50.
check amazon as well for best deals.

You might try this outfit. www.diabeticsupplyrescue.com They deal with test strips that can be provided at a low cost to those who are in need of them. I don't know if they have a means test, but believe they cater to those who are in need.

Good luck. I have been there myself and know the value of good insurance at an affordable price, no matter who provides it.

I too use American Diabetes Wholesale, and am pleased with their service. I use a WaveSense Presto meter, they have some good deals If you buy strips in quantity.

Yeah, I have nothing but good experiences from ADW. Even their free shipping option is fast enough for me.

I use the Bayer Contour USB meter and my insurance doesn't pay any part of my strips until I meet a very high deductible each year, $11,000. So I go to Amazon and shop for the cheapest strips. I can usually find them for about $42 for 100 strips. You can also go on E bay and get cheaper deals, just check expiration date.

My last strips cost $28 per hundred and arrived in a couple of days.

Most things off of the net is cheaper. I too bought a wave sense and strips were cheaper even at the Target. At Target the Up & Up brand also fits Wave Sense. I too am an over 50 year survivor.

Many thanks to everyone who replied. I talked to some wonderful folks at Allstates Medical Supply in Fletcher NC and they have a meter on rush to me and promised to let me pay the deductible over time if necessary. The problem was more with the pharmacy (Bi-Lo) and their billing practices. I get medications cheap, but the meter was a problem. No more I hope. Again, thanks, and I'm going to try and get in on some discussions here soon.--Larry

Wow. That’s a ridiculously high deductible. $42 for 100 strips is quite reasonable though… I’ve been meaning to try the Contour USB meter but its still not available for free with the purchase of strips in Canada that I’m aware of, and I refuse to pay full price for a meter just to have to pay for strips to be able to use it and see if I even like it.
