Neurophty

I have Diabetic Nerve Pain (neurophty) my feet hurt, are numb all the time and my Dr’s says theres nothing the can do about it.You know it’s not fair that we have to battle Diabetes which is a every day struggle and now we have to deal with neuropthy. I wounder in the future what other problems Diabetes will cause.

As rainbowgoddess mentions, there are LOTS of options to treat neuropathy pain. Number one: control blood sugars, which can help the pain gradually disappear, but if your pain is well-established, it may be time for specific pain meds. Anticonvulsants, including Lyrica, and certain kinds of antidepressants known as SSRIs can really help with the pain. They are preferred over opiods, which can be addictive and don’t really address nerve pain. I hope you find some relief soon!

Sorry for my typo above: These medications are sometime known as seratonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, or SNRIs

Sorry to hear that Cory, my self, I have a minor/ start of Neurophty. Usually if my BG under control it wont bother me at all!
Regarding what the others said regarding a treatment, I believe all the medicines right now is just like a pain killers, which will make the feeling of pain in your feet less or disappear, but it would not cure it.

When your physician told you that there is nothing to do about it, probably he meant that their is no cure for it, just control your sugar levels and be patient!

Other problems, I do have retinopathy and some kidney damage! Who knows, every one have something! Cheer up and keep the fight on!

Elavil (amitriptyline up to 100 mg daily) - anti-depressant is good also. Whose not depressed with this disease ?
