Newbie to T2 Learning as I go

Just back from my dr. After discussing the side effects, explaining how I felt normal BEFORE I started the meds and showing her my print outs from my meter and my daily log, she is taking me off the meds for a week to see how numbers are (closely monitored). They have been between 5 and 7 for 2 weeks with 1 spike to 10.

Even she said that she used to start with one drug to see the recation then add mediction 1 by 1 to see any reactions. She has been TOLD by "specialists" to start with all the meds. How do yo know what you are reacting too????

The Rosuvastatin is for my Cholesterol which, isn't the greatest. And the Rampiril is for kidneys. Which, i have no problem with.

OK, if there are cholesterol issues that can't be handled otherwise, then the statin makes sense. And ACE inhibitors, of which Ramipril is one, are commonly prescribed to protect the kidneys.

High blood sugars alone can cause higher cholesterol numbers. Your liver converts excess blood sugars into cholesterol in an attempt to "save" the energy in the blood sugars for a later day. My view is that you should normalize your blood sugars, then figure out whether you have cholesterol issues and whether you want to do anything about it.

Quite so. When I got my blood sugar under control, my lipids dropped like a rock. That's why I was able to deep-six the statin.

As of January:
HDL 75
LDL 51
Trigs 46

I’m fairly new to T2 myself. Had it just about 1 1/2 yrs but we haven’t gotten it controlled yet. As quoted by my doctor my A1C is what they would expect for someone who is older and less active. My A1C has been .071-.073. Not bad but not where they want it. Anyways, I’m just now starting a full 100mg of Januvia and I have been on the max amount for Glumetza. Diet and exercise has helped a great deal.
I’m giving Canadian numbers. Usual fasting is 7.8-9
