NHS Do they fund the contant glucose monitors

Hi All

I will be moving back to the uk in three weeks after being in NZ, I have an animas vibe pump but they don't fund the CGM here, just wondering if the nhs fund this.

Generally cgms are not funded on the nhs.

Only under exceptional circumstances, like pregnancy, and only for the time needed. Most if not all long term users have to self fund.

Depends on the trust. I'm allowed them, but I have to request them and the DSN has to ok it. If she says ok, fine, but I have to usually put in the request a month earlier though, sometimes get away with a week, but more time the better usually.

Big issue though is the Animas Vibe though, as it uses the Dexcom CGM. Which has no connection at all with the NHS (I've asked the UK importers about them after the Dexcom chat on here and they CEO said that effectively they haven't even looked at getting them into the NHS as they just sell them over here). So sadly a CGM that works with the Animas isn't going to be available :(
