OmniPod and Insurance Companies?

So, I finally got the news from my Endo. that I could get the Omnipod whenever I was ready :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

One problem, right now our insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield with Alltel (my dad’s work). Anyways, Verizon is taking over Alltel, and the new insurance, Cigna, will be effective April 1, 2009.

I was wondering if any OmniPod users have Cigna insurance, or know anything about what they WILL cover.

Generally you should go full speed ahead. Cigna is a fine company and will have pretty standard coverage. However the employer, not the insurance company will determine coverages. So I am guessing that while some aspects of the plan may change, in general, the two plans will likely be comparable.

Now it is important to go forth now. If BCBS is about to be dropped, they will turn over their file reviews to the new company. The further along the approval is, the better chance you will have under the new company. Now, please do understand the switch will likely cause some delay. CIGNA will not be ready to go day one, and there iwl be some snags. However, it is worth going now and take those chances instead of waiting.

I would. You have almost nothing to lose except a little time (maybe), I suggesting going and hopefully you will get it through.
