when is the new smaller PODS for the OmniPod coming out? i first heard january now i can't find any more info on it..
anyone knows??
Anyone who venture’s to guess would be doing just that- guessing. I heard they were having some sort of difficulties with getting the manufacturing plants up and running. My suspicion is they will release the new smaller Pods in conjuction with their release of their new Dexcom sensor capable pump. If that is the case only the FDA will be able to determine when they will be available to consumers.

why would they have problem with the manufacturing plant? isn't it the same one that does the recent pods?
but i was told almost a year ago that the new ones were ready as my diabetes educator showed me a sample
so that is what is weird. i actually saw how the new will look. j
Insulet still doesn’t have FDA approval for the smaller pod & they have requested additional testing b4 approvong it. I suspect sometime in the 4th quarter of 2011.
Since the plants were set up to make the larger Pods I assume they have to change around their computers and equipment to be set specifically for manufacturing the smaller Pods.
Before they change the computers they make the Pods by hand to test etc- thus you seeing a smaller "sample".
I agree that the hold up at this point is most likely the FDA but Insulet has been talking about the new Pod for quite some time- well before the FDA went on their recent tightening of the rules causing the current log jam. I also agree that there will not be ANY new pump until mid to end of 2011 and then a whole bunch will come to market.
