I am one of the poor unfortunate bastards who has been using the "Omnipod" inulin pump. Finally, after 5 years of struggling with it...yesterday my "PDM' just died. No kidding...in the middle of bolus delivery it just stopped working. I know it SHOULD be under WARRANTY, howvever, I have been "blacklisted" by the geniuses at "Insulet" (for being so negetive onlin about their product) so I am not going to waste my time calling them.
Sorry about your bad experience with the pods, it’s extremely frustrating when things don’t work the way you’d like them to. I’ve been on the omnipod for a little under a year, thankfully I have not had any negative experiences with the system aside from some pod failures. In general it helps to be patient and understanding while dealing with insulet. My mom had a four boxes of pods replaced after she had failure after failure with a specific lot number, she spent some time on the phone calmly explaining the situation. Insulet overnighted replacement pods for the entire lot.
I wish you luck with future dealings.
Thank you Daniel, I appreciate it!
Although I don't deal directly with Insulet on complaints but instead with their European distributor Ypsomed I must say that I find their customer service excellent; replacement of pods and PDM without discussion.
I know I have been so very negetive about the Omnipod for some time now...but I just recently came off a month or so being back on MDI and had a few very bad hypoglycemic episodes which has straightened me out...and I now realize I was really just unhappy with this god foresaken condition! I'm back on the pod now and loving it! I apologize to the Insulet company and any others I may have offended in my previous rants!
