I called Omni pod last Wednesday they said they were shipping them out to me that day. When I got home from work on Friday still no pods. I call the company after 45 min on hold I get someone in reorder who could not help me or send me pods until Tuesday. Then she transfered me to Product support. On hold yet another 30 min on hold for them to tell me they can't do anything until Tuesday. I had enough pods to get me until Today. If I had no errors. All she said was she was sorry and to call my Dr. I was so mad. I said well it isn't your life and your chance at DKA is it? Well my last 2 pods failed in one morning. So I really didn't want to have go back to 6 shots a day thats why I have the pump. So I found my old pump that is junk and tubing and have been using that. I called again today and 26 minutes on hold I was told my supplies were shipped today. I was heated. My doctor even called Friday and got no where with them. I emailed a sales rep with insulet this morning and he was looking into things and was very sorry. All this could make me go back to tubing. I am so over the crap with this.
Why did you wait so late to reorder pods? I've always re-ordered weeks in advance. Never had a problem with that. Even recently.
Problem was I had to change doctors and the order was faxed while I was at the new office and I was old they would be at my house on Thursday. I still had 5 left but 3 pod failures later I was stuck. I usally don't have a problen either.
Thats the way Insulet works! Sorry to hear of all your trials with them. I've been "blacklisted" and never been happier!
Sorry to hear about your troubles Melanie. Hopefully you get your pods very soon. I had 3 failures in a row over the weekend. i believe they were all related to filling the pods with a little over 200 units of insulin. I could never go back to tubing again after being on the Omnipod for years. Insulet has always been wonderful to me, so hopefully that doesn't change!!
Did you not call Omnipod to replace the 3 pods?
Labor Day Weekend.
Yup, I start getting nervous when I'm down to the last box of a 90 day supply, and I'll always have at least 5 to 10 pods as back-up to the 3 for my regular 90 day supply.
This last shipment with the new pods was definitely nerve wracking. I got the new PDM with the 10 starters, then had to call back 3 times to make sure I got the other 2 boxes before those ran out. Believe me, I started calling the minute I was down to 15 pods total, and waited 15 minutes on the last phone call just to confirm that the pods had shipped.
I order from a supply company. I never ever even speak to Insulet. Is that an option for you?
Oh I call every time most of the time its the middle of the night
I don't know or even know how to find that out but I doubt it because of my insurance the pods are free.
Changing Docs is a pain. Sorry it turned out worse for you. Hope you get back to a good norm soon.
I have several issues with how this whole supply issue is being handled. I was told explicitly today, that ALL distributors are being told by Insulet that they are back-ordered. The only way for a customer to get pods guaranteed is to directly order from Insulet and pay FULL retail price, with no option of insurance covering it. IE out of pocket. This was stated by an Insulet Rep. After more than an hour online... killing minutes on my cell phone that I can not afford to waste since I am on limited income.
My mail order company told me explicitly, "Yes, we know our website sucks, but there should be a page where you can order... except it will only display during a two week window between last order and when your next order should place. Oh, and you can NOT add a new shipment regardless, but you should be sable to click the re-order button... then we have to get re-authorization from insurance, and yet Insurance claims they never got the request... they, the supplier CCSMed, gave me 5 DIFFERENT replies to the same question, and ALL of those replies were a different lie!
GAH... I am out of pods now, been out since Yesterday, started calling about this last Friday, and was given different replies and lies each day by everyone I talked to. I no longer have Lantus, bottle expired 5 months ago, never re-filled because insurance would not pay for both types since I was on the pod system now...
So frustrating, then to be told by all respondents, that "Yes, we know there are serious issues... we are working to fix them!" Sure they are, that is why 5 months have passed and NONE of these issues has been directly fixed or addressed.
