Little info first. I've been Type 1 Diabetic for 44 years now. Although I could've been ALOT better, at this point, I seem to be doing well EXCEPT, that is, for a pain I get in the center of my lower back. Doesnt take much to bring it on. While passing the sweeper it starts until I have to sit or stop. Or while washing dishes, I have to sort of support my elbows on sides of the sink. This really eases the pain. And sometimes it's not there at all and I just don't get it.
Here's my worry: MY KIDNEYS!! I thing that's why I'm sore there. I do not have kidney disease, although my Doctor says its beginning.
I Thank You all for your time and sure hope you can help. Thanks
My understanding is that pain is not typically one of the symptoms of diabetic nephropathy. On the other hand, what you describe is a symptom of kidney stones. Kidney stone pain can be excruciating.
Best advice that we can give is to go and discuss it with your doctor as lower back pain can be triggered by any number of things, big or small. Our kidney's are not one of the things that we want to mess around with though, so if there is any worry its best to have it looked into.
In any case, I wish you all the best and hope that you figure out what is ailing you. :)
Hi There!
If you haven't already, it would be wise to have kidney tests done anyway.
Do you have Osteoarthritis or Osteoporosis? While getting up one day, I had a bad pain in my back. My Dr. thought it was a fracture(long term Diabetes, long term RA, long term Prednisone). It turned out to be Osteoarthritis in my back. I was only in my 40's. So Osteo is not just for older People from wear and tear.
Hopefully your diagnosis is kinder.
