Portable Mobi Charger?

I love the Mobi pump, have been using it for a couple weeks and it’s great. The one thing I am having trouble with is the charger. The charger that comes with the pump works fine but I travel a lot and want to have a back up power-bank style charger. The mag safe chargers I have do not work for some reason, no matter what position the pump is in: the charge lights on the pump come on but then turn off and no charge is received. Has anyone found a power-bank that will work with Mobi?

I use my car wireless charger. I lost hve a few small ones I use when I travel. I never tried powering it with a power bank though. It does require more power than the cheap ones that are usb powered but a usb c charger will likely work

I talked to tandem about making a receiver like the cgms. I don’t believe in sleeping with my phone in the room either me and I can’t get my phone to hold a charge the last thing I want is my pimp connected to me phone… I would love a smaller pump but right now it’s not an option with them for mobi.
I just find it ridiculous they haven’t considered that when making it. I find study after study about the effects of sleep and your phone and how horrific it is. Then you find study after study about how sleep important is esp if you have diabetes. Sorry not an answer to your question more of a vent!

I’d love a portable charger, too. The one it comes with is odd with its off center positioning and somewhat large size.
Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to this question but I’d note that MagSafe is probably a bad idea. I don’t think you’re supposed to put the pump on a magnet. It would probably be best to use a non magnetized Qi charger. But finding one that is both a portable power bank style and doesn’t have a magnet might be tricky.

You can put your phone on do not disturb while sleeping. Only the tandem and dexcom alerts will come through.
You can also get an old phone just for the pump if you really need that.

I am also pretty unimpressed with Tandem for their big stupid charger that isn’t even a battery!
Its like they put all of their useful design thinking into the pump and had no common sense left when it came to the supporting pieces. Ugh!

However, I have been successfully charging my mobi on a slightly older version of this battery from ToughTested (solar battery, 10,000 mAh, wireless but not magnetic) ToughTested SOLAR ROC10 10,000 mAh Powerbank with Wireless Charging &

And I have a cheapo no-brand wireless charger that is heaps thinner and also not a battery, but at least less offensively large to try to take on trip and it does a fine job charging my mobi.

Inspired by this thread, I bought this one:

Energizer 10000mAh Wireless…

It’s relatively inexpensive, not magnetic and it works. I wish it were a bit lighter but it’s strong enough to charge a mobi at a good rate and neither the charger nor the mobi warmed up while I was charging from 45% to 70%. With a thick rubber band holding the mobi against the battery you could charge up while walking around.

Does the Mobi’s wireless charger allow data transfers?

I’m wondering if it’s possible to get Mobi data onto Tidepool. I know Tandem’s app will send data to their Source website, but that site isn’t very useful.

Pretty sure it’s just a charger. Mobi communicates data via Bluetooth exclusively as far as I’m aware.

That is for certain. There is no hard wire data sharing. The charger just plugs in the wall anyway.
All updates are done on the phone. All settings are on the phone and all data is on the phone except if you put it on the mobi site.
Mine uploads automatically when I open the ap and that’s several times a day.
Someone would need to create a mobi patch to run a different algorithm. My bet is that tandem makes that difficult. I don’t know anyone even with an Tandemx2, with a data port, that can do that.
The pump itself has almost no technology in it, you can bolus and silence alarms with the buttons for when you forget your phone.
Otherwise you can’t do anything with it.

Thanks, this is helpful to know!

Thank you for the details!

I really don’t like how the pump and CGM companies are making it difficult to see data without sharing 24/7 lifestyle data with the company. The Tandem Source site isn’t even very useful - I still miss the old desktop Dexcom Studio software for functionally as well as privacy.
