Prepared meals

Obvious newbie question alert---

Is there such a thing as diabetic friendly healthy frozen dinners?

Just something I can have on hand in the freezer when I am too rushed or too impatient or too tired to figure all this out. Someting I can grab, microwave, just eat, and I am good to go?

I suppose not. A dream.

I guess I am just trying to get out of all these charts and stuff.

I like the ones that just come with meat, and non-starchy veggies: steak tips and steamed veggies, chicken and veggies, etc. No potatoes, no breading or rice… There are a few healthy choice ones, and smart start ones that are okay… They are low enough in carbs that even if the label is 20% off, it’s not a big deal. The steamed ones they have now, seem to have larger portions than the tray ones.

Just read the backs of the meals. I get them for easy lunches. Just look at portions. it could say 20 gm of carb but only be a third of the meal. I usually buy the lean cuisine, or healthy choice, and add a fruit if the carbs are fairly low.

Nutritional labels are inaccurate & most “diet” frozen dinners are woefully small portions. Some labels are really sneaky, like Kathyann said, so check to see what a portion actually means.

Also some lean cuisine meals are good, but make sure you check the carbs. Some of them are wickedly high!

I hate cooking, sometimes I eat at least one frozen meal a day, better than fast food lol

Most are fine. Just check the carbs, and then gauge your shot accordingly. Most soups are pretty high in carbs, but the prepackaged meals that come in the trays give you a good bit for the carbs they have. Not the best, but if you’re in a hurry, it’s all ya have! During school that’s usually all i eat in the mornings as EVERY morning is a rush for us. (I like my sleep!)
