I've had the Dexcom G4 CGM for over a month now. It's working great, except for one thing- I want to wear it on my arm, and it does not stick there for more than 3 days! I wear the omnipod on my stomach and I don't like to wear two devices on my stomach. So far I've tried IV prep and mastisol. Any ideas?
I don't have a Dexcom but use this stuff called Opsite Flexifix to hold my Medtronic CGM sensors on and it's awesome. I've gone for long (14+ miles...) runs when it's hot (like 87, but we start at 6:30 AM...) and will come home and the "bubble" around the sensor will be full of sweat, blood, interstitial fluid, whatever, and I'll pop it with a lancet but the sensor will stay stuck and keep working. The tape is great!
Leah,
I do the opposite-I wear my pods on my upper arms, on the fatty back part, and my G4 on my stomach. I've found that Opsite Flexifix is a good tape to put around the perimeter of the G4 to give it extra hold. With the tape it stays put for at least two weeks. I also have Skin Tac which I have used in the past with the pods. When the fabric part of the G4 comes loose you can put the Skin Tac under it, let it sit for a few minutes to get tacky, then apply to the skin and put some Opsite around it for extra sticking power.
My daughter only wears her Dex on her arms. We use liquid Skin Tac & Hypafix tape. I draw an oval with the Skin Tac applicator, usually 2 coats with allowing it dry in between. The Hypafix goes on immediately after insertion. We did the same with the 7+. We've never lost a sensor.
