My doctor said protein came back in my urine. My albumin/creatinine ratio came back high at 43.1 (under 30 is desirable) I have been type 1 diabetic for 3 years. What does this mean? I know I just recently had my highest A1C ever at 7.9 every other A1C has been 5.0-6.1.
It could mean nothing unless your GFR is also under 60? It really does not indicate chronic kidney troubles until it gets up over 300 but over 30 is a indicator that something my be damaging your kidneys but this kind of positive test should be fallowed with a 24 hr urine collection...just going to the gym the day before a random urine test can give high test results.
I have tested positive for protein on random tests many times when I was younger and active....Drink two or three liters of water a day and get re-tested.
Hmmm..theres no GFR on my lab papers. Myurine micralbumin is 5.3 and creatinine is 12.3 and then my creatinine/albumin ratio is high 43.1. For some reason my creatinine always comes back very low in my blood labwork and my BUN/creatinine ratio is always high.
If your Bun is over 20.0 then your dehydrated, below 10.0 is bad because Renal damage causes reduced re-absorption of BUN, therefore lowering the BUN:Cr ratio.
