Pump in may, norway in the summer!

so i’m getting the pump soon because I will be traveling to Europe with my boyfriend for the summer. Wer’re starting in London, and making the way to Norway where my grandpa and uncle live… I’m very nervous however… food… insulin… health care is expensive over there, so i dont know how i’m going to work around diabetes… any traveling tips?

I’m planning on going to Spain for the summer, but don’t have a lot of advice tor traveling abroad- the longest I’ve been away from the U.S. is two weeks and that was when I didn’t have diabetes. However, I suggest that you schedule an appointment with your doctor a month before your trip. Have your doctor write you three-month prescriptions for all of your diabetic supplies and medications. Also, tell them about your travel plans- they may have some very good advice.

For sure. You may even want to put off going on the pump until you return. There will be no way for your to contact your DR during an emergency. I certainly would be leery of traveling out of country with a brand new pump. You might want to take as much training right now (even before the pump arrives) so you can be better able to handle an emergency.

Take care in your travels.
