Traveling with a pump

I am a newbie (less than a year on a pump) and we will be taking a winter vacation. Are there any precautions that should be taken with the pump? I am planning on taking extra supplies as well as some Lantus. Thanks

take 2 weeks extra materials with you - if you are flying - put it on your carry-on.

take a prescription/ letter from your endocrinologist for extra insulin and syringes in case your pump fails.

If you have an animas pump - get the loaner pump sent to you prior to your trip and you’ll have a backup if the pump fails.

If you are going out of the country. Inform the American Embassy you can arrange to have medication held there just in case something happens, or if you need help in a medical emergency.

But keep it with you at all times, use a sports case to protect the pump and have a great time!

Rick-

Make sure you have your pump settings, carry extra supplies, glucose tabs (just incase you get a low), doc’s rx just incase someone questions you.

Have a safe trip
