Our Glucosurfer App for iPhone, Android and even Windows Phone might be the right tool for you. Please take a look at www.glucosurfer.org for more information.
Thank you! Will look it over!
I guess for now I am going to use Accu chek Connect, and hopefully I will find some sort of deal to upgrade my tiny old iPhone!!! I have the bitty size, and it is overcrowded but I think I can fit the app on it. Thanks for all the tips and ideas.
Update: The Connect is very cool, it does fit on my phone. Still trying to work out pens and supplies, but at least the meter is good to go. Oh, except for the pre authorization for stripsā¦which I got today, but, they want $100 a month for 250 strips. One Touch are 300 strips for $30. Unbelievable. They are not helping people who have to have certain strips for meters that go with their pump.
Looks like it would be the perfect thing. Got confused when I saw a clip with carb factors in it, but the iphone version uses grams of carbs input correct? Let me know because I need to download something ASAP. Had another occlusion today and just really need to park the pump for awhile.
Our Glucosurfer is an international project. Therefore the scale for glucose is mmol/l or mg/dl. The scale for carbs is gram or bread exchanges (12g = 1 BU) or carb exchanges (10g = 1 CU). The nice thing about this approach is that the user viewing the data can get a view in the scale he is used to. Very helpful for medical teams in other countries.
OK, thank you! Iām still choosing something but wanted to check that out.!
You could probably find an older used Android phone for very little money, and then use xDrip+. You donāt need a cell data connection, just a functioning Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
I do have an old Android but itās stuck looping. Did find a nice app for my iPhone so now to be brave and try Lantus!
Good luck! Iāve been on mdi since the dcct, and I have refused to go to a pump. I would bet your control stays just as good and youāll like it better on mdi.
My control on MDI&P has been very strong after being on pump for better part of 15 years.
Itās all about whatās best for each individual and having choices is fundamental to the treatment of this disease.
Weāve come a long way since I was first diagnosed.
Looking forward to untethered!
I used Lantus for years. Extremely variable results. Been on Toujeo for several months now and with twice daily injections it is very predictable. As with any long acting insulin it takes a few days to a week to acclimate, so donāt give up too easily.
Enjoy your untethered freedom!
I know you probably donāt need an answer anymoreā¦but just ran across this thread. Iāve been on a pump vacation using tresiba and Novolog, and really liking it. I use the app Rapid calc on my iphone. Tracks IOB and gives great log book. Anyway, if not too late, this is a good one. No subscrition etc. needed.
Thanks. Maybe this will help someone else. Didnt work for me at all. I was trying Lantus and my HMO would not cover Tresiba. Right now they want $300 a vial for Novolog. So I am now involved in the next battleā¦
Sorry, I was responding to your comment about figuring out how to calculate IOB while on a pump vacation. Good luck with it all.
Does that also have a bolus wizard deal in the app? I was just reminding my husband this morning of how our HMO Diabetes case manager told me the One Touch meters do bolus advice and IOB. She told me I didnt know what I was talking about when I said no, they do not do thatā¦Then when I tried to get the Roche Connect meter strips approved by the grievance board, they also told me they knew better than I did what I needed. grrrā¦
Yes. You put in the initial numbers and ratios then when you put in the BG number and or carbs to be eaten, it will figure out number of units needed, subtracting iob and suggest about to take. I find it very handy.
Great! Iāll save the info for future use! Thanks!!!
