For what its worth I’ve been wearing a G6 for 14 months with on one sensor failure so far. Dexcom mailed me a replacement for free.
I suspect part of the equation is individual biology and some people might be more prone to failures than others.

How will u be able to soak G6 sensors when you are running a 8G transmitter (or newer)? Word is that those xmitters look for rough data that wouldn’t be coming from a soaked sensor, and therefore would fail to work.
I won’t be on the 8G for some time as I still have two 81xxx transmitters (including the one I’ve Been wearing about a month). By the time I start using it I hope others will have tested the premise and if it’s true, someone will have developed a workaround. If the worst case happens and I can’t presoak I’ll just have to live with the looney toons data for the first 1-2 days. Contrary to when I first started the G6, the accuracy and integration with my Tandem pump are too important to go back to G5.
I hear you but I’m not digging a world where my CGM would be inaccurate for 1 day, much less 2 days!
OK, I’ve pretty well decided that I’m going with the t:slim X2 to replace my t:flex. The local Tandem rep is supposed to call me today to get final info needed to get the (Medicare) ball rolling. I’m still using the DexCom G5 CGM, so I have a question: will the X2 show readings from the G5 or do I have to wait until I get a G6 to get any real advantage from the t:slim pump? I know I won’t be able to use the Basal-IQ until I’m G6-ed. But can I get my G5 BG readings on the pump?
I don’t think that Tandem has shipped new pumps with G5 integration in a long time. The people I know on Medicare who have recently gotten X2 pumps say that they came with G6 integration. Fortunately Medicare people are now able to get G6 although there continue to be rumors of supply issues. I ordered a G6 yesterday to ship on November 5 when my latest G5 transmitter was shipped 91 days ago. My Tandem pump still works with G5 because I have had it for several years and I will be able to do the software update to move to G6 and Basal IQ.
Actually I’ve been on Medicare Aetna Advantage plan for a few years. In the middle of last year I had a g5 receiver issue, which Dexcom resolved by sending a G6 kit (which I did not ask for). My plan has covered it since mid-2018. I despise the g6 - 70% failure rate after ~ 7 days - but Aetna Medicare is covering them.
