Random pump site infection

In the past two weeks I’ve randomly had two large pump site infections. Basically, when I change the pump site, it looks like a giant bug bite all around the pump site, spanning about 5 inches across, becoming red and inflamed. this has happened twice in a row, but then cleared up after a few days, and I can feel this happening on my current site. My blood sugars have also been running higher - but I figure this may be as a result of the infection. Any ideas what might be causing this sudden reaction? Has anyone else had experiences like this? I use unisolve (remove) when I take off the site, and ivprep wipes before applying the new site. I wonder if it may be diet related? I’d like to hear if you’ve had similar experiences and what triggered this or what made it stop. Thanks guys!

I have had similar reactions from the type of insulin I am using. Humalog does this to me after 12-16 hours of an infusion set site.

See if your doc has samples of other types of insulin to see if that may be the culprit.

Are you sure it is an infection and not just a local non-bacterial reaction?

Ok I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that maybe your allergic to the tape that is on the infusion set. I’ve had to go to tegaderm just for al the reason’s you talked about here.
