Refilling Omnipod

Hi. This is my first month with an Omnipod and vials of insulin vs pens. There isn’t enough insulin left in the vial to refill the pod. Do I try to combine insulin from the old and a new vial or just start a new vial? Thanks.

Get all you can out of the first vial, put it in the pod. Then get the rest of what you need from the second vial and finish filling the pod. There is no problem doing that at all.

I never throw insulin away. I combine the old and new. Fill the syringe with the left over insulin then finish with the new. It is a 3 day pod so it isn’t going to go bad.

I didn’t know you could fill the pod twice. Thank you!

Just to be specific - you can put the needle in and out and add insulin as many times as you want (except of course if you do it so much that you damage the port where the fill-needle inserts).

Once you do the priming, after that you can NOT fill it anymore.

Also, once you put insulin in, you have 2 hours to activate it.

Other than that, no problems or restrictions.
