Replacement of transmitter

Hey all

I was wondering I just put on a sensor and now it is telling me I need to change my transmitter soon, is there anyway I can switch transmitters while the sensor is still on? or do I really have to change the sensor and transmitter?

Thanks in advance

Sarah

My transmitter lasted for about two weeks or so after the low battery alert.

My question is can I keep sensor I. And just switch out the transmitter?

I know you have to stop the sensor and enter a new transmitter ID to pair them, but I've done mine when I change out the sensor. You could wait until the sensor fails, then change it out. Read through your manual to understand all of the steps involved; it isn't just switching out the two, tossing the old and using the new. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, except to stress the importance of reading the manual to understand all of the steps involved in changing the transmitter and retaining any of the old data.

I believe you can. I recall reading this in a thread last year. But, Daniel is also giving good info. I got the same notice about m Tx battery running low a couple of weeks ago, just after putting on a new sensor. I didn't have my new Tx yet, so contacted Dexcom/Solara, and had it shipped to me. In the interim, I kept getting the same notice about the battery running low, but the Tx on my arm was working fine. Last night it was time to change my sensor (after 14 days), so I swapped in the new Tx when I put on the new sensor.

Remember, you cannot pair your new Tx with your G4 until you are not in a sensor session, so if you really want to do the swap while still wearing your current sensor you will have to select Stop Sensor, take off the old Tx (which might be kind of a pain, so be careful or you could dislodge the sensor under it as you pull it out of the sensor saddle), pair the new Tx with your G4, then install it WITHOUT the lever arm to click it into place (you need to hear two distinct clicks, or it could easily come out of the sensor saddle).

That's all a lot to deal with, so unless your Tx truly is outta juice, you might just consider leaving it in until the next time you swap on a new sensor like I did.

That answered my question thank you. It has the out of range since this morning so I am assuming it is now toast sigh. I just put my sensor in 2 days ago

Call Dexcom and explain the situation. They might give you $$$ credit for the sensor if you need to switch out early... it's up to them, of course...

yes that is what I am doing as I put this sensor on on Sunday. it is only Wed. Transmitter still says low but is showing out of range symbol. all day. very very strange.

Thanks for all the advice ppls. always good advice and knowledge to learn
