Well ive got the 522 now… and im up for a upgrade feb 2011… now my question is should i got for the 523 which will last me basically 3 days on the dot or get the 723 which i could wear for a few days longer…
If it were me, I would wonder if my insulin need would increase sometime in the next 4 years and then I would be stuck with the smaller reservoir through the warranty, by staying with the 523. If you have the choice of reservoirs and you are at the max for the 523, I am not sure why you even have a question about it. Some may say no big deal to change every 2 days but it would be to me. So it is up to you whether you want to be absolutely sure (and maybe have a tiny bit of unused space in your reservoir) or take an unnecessary risk. This is strictly my opinion and I am not telling you what to do. Just saying what I would do.
no i agree i just wanted some opinions because i know alot of people swear by changing there set every 3 days… as do i but i was thinking maybe if i needed to keep it on an extra day or something i cant…
Totally depends on the TDD insulin use and whether or not you are comfortable changing sites indedpendant of reservoirs.
In Canada, and I state country, only because we don’t have access to the revel yet, David uses the 722 paradigm with a 3 ml reservoir. He changes his reservoirs independantly of sites always, as reserrvois last 3 to 4 days, while sites typically for him, last 2. So 10 site with tubing changes costs us, here, $205, while 10 site without tubing cost $168, so we save tubing and with that we save cost. We also preorder for 3 months to get Medtronic’s discount for a 3 month supply.
You will really need to look at the reservoir max and how it fits with site changes and then determine whether or not the upgrade to the larger reservoir makes sense. One would think that it would make sense if you typically change sites now, every 3 days.

If you think your insulin needs may increase I would definitely go wih the 723. You can always use less insulin in the reservoirs if you don’t need it now.
yea i agree im gonna go with the 723…
