I am new to the whole CGM process. I mean like 3 days into it. My first sensor insertion was with the Medtronic rep and it went ok, minimal bleeding with sensor insertion like a drop, but today the adhesive on the sensor came off my skin so I put a new sensor in, and got some bleeding with insertion. What is an appropriate amount of bleeding with insertion? Please help I’m a newbie.
I usually experience some since the thing is just dang big… put some pressure on it and it should stop pretty quickly and you’ll be good to go
I’ve found that the angle of insertion of the sensor is very important in minimizing the amount of bleeding (I usually try for about a 60% angle). Also, most CGM users, including myself, put a piece of paper tape over the flat part of the sensor before putting dressing (IV3000 or whatever) over the the whole thing.
I tried for a 60 degree angle but it is hard to judge it just right. I hadn’t thought about putting anything over the sensor before putting on the IV3000 that is a great idea. Thanks.
