Looking for advice on sick days. This is our first with diabetes and I was surprised to see just as many lows as highs. My husband wants me to take Michael to the Peds, it has only been 6 days. I think he is jumpy since our diagnosis. Any thoughts.

Sick days have to be watched more closely with frequent testing because sickness can presipitate DKA,so testing,and if BG is 250 mg/L or more extra dose of fast acting insulin has to be given ( 0.1 u-0.2 u/kg),and to check urine for ketones,with drinking of water and resting.Another thing is to avoid hypoglycemia if the child cannot eat well.So testing is the important issue.
