Now I have another question. I’m a tosser turner type of person until I settle down. Does this mess up the sensor? What do you do when you are like this??? I am curious as next week I’ll be hopefully ordering my CGM. So thanks for suggestions on sleeping with it
I toss and turn and I’ve never had anything bad happen. I just keep the receiver on the night stand.
thanks Lane. I’ll keep the receiver on the night stand too. Just worried about sleeping with the sensor. its a new thing for me and want to be sure its ok to toss and turn, etc.
I think sometimes it makes the delay longer or shorter - like if you are lying flat on the transmitter - (my son wears his on his back) it sometimes seems to take longer to come down - but in general i haven’t noticed any problems, and he definitely tosses and turns. This morning his head was at the other end of the bed when i went in to wake him up!
I don’t have scientific proof, but it seems that if I lay on my sensor for an extended period, I get inaccurate readings or no readings (the receiver displays ???). If the reading doesn’t match the way you feel, either wait or check it with a finger stick. From what I have read on other posts, if the readings are way off it is not a good time to calibrate.
so for someone who is a tosser turner where would be the best place to put the sensor??? I dnot want to get off readings but just not sure.
i toss on my sides or to my stomach. I can’t sleep on my back. I had bad experiences
I wear the sensor on either side of my abdomen, usually 2 inches away from the furthest place where I place my OmniPod.
I wear the sensor VERTICALLY - not approved - on my abdomen. Then I cover it with "plastic film dressing except the bottom 1/2 inch. I insert the sensor upward so the transmitter is inserted up and clicked down. My receiver is in a sports case clipped to my waist band along with my Ping Pump.
BTW, I read somewhere insulin injections/pump sites should be at least 3 inches from the Dexcom sensor.
Another BTW, the antenna in the Dexcom is oriented toward the front of the receiver. When you put your receiver on the bedside stand, have it face where the transmitter will be most of the night. Headboard looking down is not bad either.

I just toss the received in bed with me. somehow it floats around with all my tossing and turning and it always comes out on top. A few times I’ve forgotten about it and made the bed only to discover a “bump” that turns out to be the Dexcom.
I toss & turn alot. I have my sensor on my lower abs. I have a bookcase headboard that I put the receiver on. Other than not hearing alarms at night, I don’t have any problems & have never messed up a sensor from tossing too much.
I thought the Seven+ manual said 2 inches from the insertion site… Oh well, I always put it two inches from the back of the OmniPod, so I’ll always have enough room.
Thank you guys for your advice. I am so new to this. I read everything from the website but its the littlest things that I am not sure about. I just hope to have enough data to show my insurance company so I can get the CGM soon! I’ll find out on Monday if its possible to order it.
