I'm assuming 3-4 shots are probably needed, but in practice what are the curves like and how consistent can you get the basal with tweaking? I'm not there, but kind of want to be prepared for the worst?
Everyone is different. I actually did fine with 2 shots a day of Relion N. Since I have wicked DP, I actually benefited from the intermediate time of action for N and made my evening shot much bigger than my morning shot. Other people here have horror stories of the variability of N. I always took great care to properly mix the N which I believe is a big factor in getting good results.
I did MDI with Regular + NPH for about 25 years. I averaged about 20 units a day basal over the whole time, split as 5 units each between 4 shots about 6 hours apart (actually the overnight gap was closer to 8 hours). Average A1C during the time was in the 5's.
I’m going to be switching because I can’t afford Novolog or Lantus prices. Did you find that you had more lows while you were on Reli-On? Why did you switch?
