Last night and today i ate come candies made with Maltitol and Maltitol Syrup . I thought i was doing good… NOT SO, my sugar has been getting better since i started met last week, getting no higer than 160 as my body is getting used to it. Most times i see 100-130 range.
But today its been 160, 180 and just now 218! Now from the past i was used to these crazy number up to 380 but not anymore.
What gives? I thought these candies were sugar free. Has anyone else had this problem?
Only two of the sugar alcohols have a GI of zero, according to Livesey’s research. These are mannitol and erythritol. Several others have a very low GI, but two maltitol syrups have a GI greater than 50. This is a higher GI value than that of spaghetti, orange juice, or carrots
I think if i want a treat im going to stick with my Soy Joy bars.
Yep! I tend to avoid “sugar free” products because the sugar alcohols tend to make my #'s skyrocket. And they still have carbs, so your #'s will go up even if it’s sugar free.
