My husband has diabetes with complications (I won’t go into details b/c it’s a downer) and last week his dr prescribed tramadol for his neuropathy pain – he 2k the recommended dose for 2 days and spent the rest of the week trying to recover from those 2 days. Every night he had a major bout of hypoglycemia and it sounded like your description of what you are going thru with your high BG.
I must admit, I am quite impressed with your ability to put words to your affliction – I think I would just bury myself in anger and not come out until it passed :-)!
