This Week I Will campaign chooses Diabetes Hands Foundation as one of 4 charities to benefit

A new campaign called This Week I Will invites people with type 2 diabetes to make a difference in their own lives and in the diabetes community. It is based on the philosophy that managing diabetes involves taking small steps each week that lead to effective behavior change over time. Participants will make a week-long pledge to commit to a specific behavior change to improve their diabetes management. As a reward for committing to small changes each week, participants will earn the opportunity to direct a $5 donation to the diabetes-related charity of their choice (including Diabetes Hands Foundation, the parent organization of TuDiabetes).

To Take the pledge simply go to www.ThisWeekIWill.com, and then come back here and let your friends on TuDiabetes know what you pledged to do so we can support you and cheer you on! Pledges include simple things, like taking the stairs more often, eating more green vegetables, and taking a walk each day. You can make a new pledge every week, and make good on your pledges anywhere, any time.

For even more inspiration, This Week I Willwill also be taking pledges in person at the following events:

·Minneapolis ADA EXPO: October 13, 2012

· San Diego TCOYD: October 27, 2012

· New York ADA EXPO: November 3, 2012

· Pittsburgh ADA EXPO: November 10, 2012

· Austin TCOYD: December 1, 2012

At these events the This Week I Will booth will feature iPads where attendees can make their pledges, as well as a photo booth where they can have their picture taken to commemorate their pledge. They’ll also receive a This Week I Willphoto frame.

Participants at the live events will also have the opportunity to film short testimonials about their This Week I Will pledges – including why they made them and why they selected the particular charity. These testimonials will be compiled into short, fast-paced videos to help get the word out about the importance of making small changes to improve our lives!
