Diabetes Hands Foundation Selected as Charity Partner for This Week I Will Diabetes Pledge Campaign
Amylin Pharmaceuticals, LLC, to Donate $5 to Diabetes Hands Foundation for Each Pledge Made on Organization’s Behalf

Berkeley, California – 9/25/2012 – Diabetes Hands Foundation has been selected as one of four partners for a new online diabetes pledge campaign called This Week I Will, sponsored by Amylin Pharmaceuticals, LLC. For each pledge made on behalf of Diabetes Hands Foundation, Amylin will donate $5, up to $25,000.

This Week I Will is a motivational campaign that invites people with type 2 diabetesto make a difference in their own lives and in the diabetes community. It is based on the philosophy that managing diabetes involves taking small steps each week that lead to effective behavior change over time. Participants will make a week-long pledge to commit to a specific behavior change to improve their diabetes management. As a reward for committing to small changes each week, participants will earn the opportunity to direct a $5 donation to the diabetes-related charity of their choice.

“We’re thrilled to be selected as a charity partner for a campaign that supports and motivates people with type 2 diabetes in their efforts to manage this challenging condition,” said Emily Coles, Diabetes Hands Foundation Head of Communities. “Pledge participants will not only be committing to improve their diabetes management and habits one week at a time, but also helping to support Diabetes Hands Foundation in our efforts to connect and empower people with diabetes and their loved-ones.”

The pledge is hosted on Diabetic Connect, a social network for people living with diabetes, and can be shared on other social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter. Though making a behavior change can be challenging, sharing the commitment in a supportive online community can help participants follow through on their pledges.

This is fabulous Emily. How long will This Week I Will.. be going on?

Well ok, I cheated, although I don't have Type 2, I figure I can still Pledge to do something to better manage my T1, and support TuD at the same time.

It's not cheating, Clare. You are saying you will do something good for yourself... and you are also doing something good for Diabetes Hands Foundation!

Thanks so much!

It will be going on until early next year.

We always know that we can take a step to improve ourselves. Please consider making a pledge, helping yourself and helping DHF. Every time we pledge to make a simple change to our lives for the better, DHF gets $5. I made the pledge, have you?

ps. Don't forget to select the DHF to receive your pledge.
