Three Wishes for Christmas

A couple weeks ago, the apartment complex I lived in had an Evening with Santa for the kids. Residents were allowed to invite relative’s kids that did not live here so my sister brought my nephew Brandon. Brandon is 7 and has Downs. They called each one of the kids up and Santa would ask them what they wanted for Christmas. Brandon said Woody – apparently, Woody is a character from Toy Story (I did not know that at the time). Santa asked him what else he wanted and he said Woody again. Then they tried to give him a present and he refused to take it because it was not Woody. I guess if Santa asks you what you want, he should give you what you ask for! Brandon doesn’t know it yet but Grandma did buy Woody for him so he should be happy on Christmas morning.

A few weeks ago on Facebook, Diabetes Daily asked the old genie and three wishes question. I thought it would be fun to change that into, if Santa would grant you three wishes, what would you wish for?

My answers would pretty much the same as I said for the genie:

1) Everyone would have as much insulin and test strips as they needed without worrying about how they would pay for it. There would also be no preferred brand and you get the kind that works for you, not what some insurance company wants you to have.

2) Everyone that wants a pump or CGMS could have one. Again, no preferred brand.

3) Something for me – a husband!
