Tmi

I have been struggling for the last month and just found this article that explains my situation perfectly, especially when the symptoms are the same as having a low blood sugar. Can't wait to see my doctor to come up with a plan, as I have withdrawn from life.

Good luck, Karen! :)

Got a call today from MD they can move my appointment to next week. Tweeked my basals overnight still sky high overnight, until last night and boom low. Not sure what I will do tonight.

Menopause is worse than pms, never thought I would say that

Hi Karen,

Glad to know your appointment got moved up. Hang in there...you know there are a lot of us rooting for you.

Hugs,

Ruth

Hey is this my Ruth (SamQKitty)??

My BG's have stabilized more with HRT. But I may go off of it because I am concerned about it's potential side effects. Interesting article about the impact of hormones for ladies with diabetes. What is a girl to do. Hope things go well for you. I'm there with you.

Things are a tiny bit better, have returned to my normal basal rates, but last night woke up again all soaking wet and blood sugar high, this thing changes daily. During the day today at work no fan at my desk, but right now I feel something coming on. It is so confusing because it is symptoms of having a low, but it is not my blood sugar, but I have to test because I am not always sure.

End of June my sister came up from GA and she saw me sweating like crazy and she yelled out while we were at the zoo HRT, HRT, she says she feels so much better, ha. She said at work she would be at meeting and just break out in a sweat.

I see the MD on Wed, so I will see what she says. I do know there are side effects either way, but I think the dosages these days are lower, and like my sister's MD stated no one should live like this.

Hi Karen,
been there, done that.. Thought it was finally over (had 8 good months), and just recently started having hot flashes again, after surgery, which removed my ovaries.

I found the following book by John Lee to be very helpful, although not specific to managing BGs. Here's a link to the book and description on amazon.

He has a similar book for peri-menopause, and several others.

As for BG challenges, I was fortunate to have CGMS - first MM, then Dexcom during my 'transition' years. Without CGMS, it would have definitely been more challenging !
I used temp basals ALOT. I reacted to alarms from the CGMS, to know when to set a higher or lower basal, or possibly just do a small correction depending on the situation. Over time, I did see some patterns, but not many !

Which doctor are you seeing ? I discussed with both my Endo and primary, but neither provided much help for the BG side of things. I refused the standard HRT and did ultimately use estrogen for a short time, but regret that I did. John Lee's books have many other alternative suggestions, including some I tried that gave relief in the beginning.

Good luck !
