To change or not to change pump companies?

I am trying to decide what company to use for my next pump. I am currently on the medtronic 515 and am intrested in switching to one that has continus monitoring. Opnipod is one I am thinking about or the one with Medtronic. They have a promo on right now until Oct 31 to receive and swithch to their company. It is only supposed to cost $200? Has anyone done this before? Has anyone swithched from one company to another? Any advice would help, thanks.

Lisa, if you are interested in wearing CGMS and I see you live in Canada , then MM 522 or with the larger reservoir model ( 722 ) is the only way to go .Omnipod not available in C. ; no other CGMS either .
I wear a MM 522 and CGMS and have no complaints …please visit the Canadian site ; there is some info there related to Omnipod

Thanks for the info. I suspect that I will stay with medtronic anyhow. I’ll be moving to the States next month and could order the Omipod if I think it might be a worth while switch. I’ve read lots of testimonials from both sites and I think I’ve made my decision…I think, lol. Do you have problems keeping the CGM on? I tried one for a couple of days and by day two I was putting band aids and tape on it. Wasn’t very impressed with the stickiness of the CGM. I swim a couple of times a week and almost lost in the pool on day two. I have little to no response for low blood sugars anymore so I need to do something, even with extra testing it’s easy to run into problems. I’ve also upped my target range for my body to get used to higher blood sugars and thus maybe give myself some symptoms back I hope. My A1C is 6.3 and so I’d love to not have to adjust it up but with out warning signs it’s too dangerous. With that I’ve had a number of lows and thus some highs as well. I can’t seem to do anything without having to adjust my basal. Like a bit of weeding will drop me low or a walk. I’ve played with my basal’s but that hasn’t worked that well either. I will check back through the sites suggested in case I missed something. Thanks Lisa

I always use IV3000 tape, to keep my sensor in place . Have been suggested by Chris Jarvis, the Olympic rower etc. , to use Tegaderm …for the very active pumper .
I did a marathon ( walker ) in Disney World , 2008 ; my shorts had been rubbing against the IV3000 tape ; 100 percent humidity, 85 F degrees and when I had to go to bathroom , the sensor fell to the ground …the only time that happened to me .
Have you tried temp basals , when you add extra exercise to your day; in other words less insulin ? One needs to prepare oneself ahead of time , as the temp basal kicks in after 1-2 hours .
Hope your move will go well Lisa.
