I find myself forgetting to test at exactly two hours after my meals so I can chart my BS exactly and sometimes its three or maybe four hours post. Not being on the pump or with a CGM do any others have this problem and wished there was a two hour alarm on your meter
I do not have a pump nor a CGM and Im also a Type 2. But when I was first diagnosed, my doctor instructed me to take bg 1 hour then 2 hours after meals. I kept a journal at that time. Its tidious and annoying sometimes but it helped me and my doctor a lot figuring out the type of management I need. I always forget too, so I devised an alarm system (my mobile phone, kitchen timer, baking timer, bedroom alarm clock…which ever is near me, LOL) Theres also a timer available that is used mostly in schools or testing/examination centers. Its very small, handy and noise free, When at home its on my dining or breakfast table. I set it when I take my meals =)
Hope this helps a bit =)
The Freestyle Flash meters, I know, had up to 6 alarms you could set to go off during the day. (Not sure if the current generations of Freestyle meters have them.) I set them for times spaced out through the day which I knew would be close to those two hour marks or times when I should be testing. Like 10, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. It helped me a lot pre-CGM.
All the time :((
The Contour USB also has alarms, which you could set in 15 minute increments. One thing I really miss about that meter and wish my pump had (I’d like to be able to use a 15 minute alarm to pre-bolus with and remind me to eat). I could be wrong, but I think the Accu-Chek meters also had alarms on them.
