Hi everyone!
I have type 1 diabetes, and I was wondering if any of you have experience getting a tattoo, and what your experiences have been.
I have been looking into it for a while, and I looked online, only to find that if your BG is in a normal range, and if you continually cleanse the area, it has a much lower chance of infection. Have you found this to be true? Do you have any tips or ‘hacks’ to prevent infection other than keeping BG in the normal range?
Also, I am looking to get a medical alert tattoo, as I don’t want to have my health dependent on whether or not I remember to put on my bracelet- I’d love to see some of your favorite designs, or personal tattoos that you’ve gotten to show people that you are diabetic as I can’t seem to decide on one that’s right for me right now!
Funny you should post this now…I’m getting my very first tattoo next Tues - a medic alert one. Will post the results next week.
Check out this cool post from a few weeks ago in the forum! I want to get one as well. I just don’t know what!
Cyn, let’s get you tatted in orlando.
@Clem I think that’s an idea for a new thread topic!!
"What to tat the TuD Canadian?"
I just don’t know what to get!?!?
I’ll sketch something up. It will probably be a stick figure with curls, text will read “Regerts”
I don’t have a D-tatt but have been thinking about it. I’ve never seen one, but would like to have one that was filigree/swirly with scripty font stating “diabetes type 1” that looks like a bracelet. Does that make sense? I don’t have anything against tattoos but for me, id rather you had to look twice to realize it was actually a tattoo and not a bracelet. Anyone ever see one like that?
